Sweet Pies Spring/Summer

Daisy's Lemon Meringue Pie

Daisy a very dear friend of Auntie M gave her this delicious recipe for Lemon Meringue Pie. Just the right amount of Sweet and Sour from beautiful Meyer Lemons hand picked by Auntie M herself and made into this sweet confection and piled high with gooey merinque. Daisy would be so proud!

Nanbeau's Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Fresh farmer's market peaches, baked with Auntie M's special spices and a hint of cardamom and oozing with sugary goodness and topped by her grandma's old-fashioned biscuit dough. A reminder of those lazy hot summer afternoons and 4th of July picnics.

Sweetheart Summer Strawberry Pie

"Sweets for the sweet" is what Auntie M always says and what better way to top off a sultry summer afternoon than with a sweet, fresh strawberry pie? Fresh Strawberries and Auntie M's homemade strawberry jam mixed together for a sweetheart of a treat. And to top it all off - heart decorated crust with a sprinkling of sanding sugar. Though Auntie M will admit after making this pie for the first time she went out and purchased a larger heart cookie cutter 'case she was plum tuckered out by decorating with those teeny, tiny, little hearts.

Double Layer Key Lime Pie with Chantilly Cream

Auntie M loves this "little slice of Key West" in the summer time when it's blazing hot and the humidity is at an all time high.  With it's graham cracker and granola crust this pie, chock full of real Key Lime juice and Key Lime zest layered with rich, creamy fresh cream cheese and topped with Chantilly Cream is a real refresher.  Perfect after a BBQ and it keeps Auntie M out of that hot kitchen.

Blueberry Chocolate Pie.jpg
Blueberry Chocolate Pie

Decadent dark chocolate topped with farmer's market fresh California Organic Blueberries. and nestled in Auntie M's sweet cookie pie dough. Not a traditional blueberry pie but a new twist on an old-fashioned favorite. Auntie M did not pick the blueberries but had one of her farmer minions do it. They know blueberries much better than she does. Could be a great complement to a summer barbeque.

Sweet, Tart, Lemon Stars

Not traditionally a pie nor does Auntie M try to make these delicacies into one but she does make an ever so sweet and an ever so tart lemon bar from fresh-off-the-tree Meyer lemons.  She doesn't have to go far but out her back porch to pick these little beauties right off the tree. This ooey, gooey lemon goodness is resting on a browned butter shortbread crust and topped by a sprinkling of powdered sugar.  A sensation for your tastebuds and your tummy.  Can be made to feed a crowd. 20 star bars.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Luscious, organic farm stand strawberries and grandma's home grown rhubarb go into this old-fashioned favorite summertime pie. Flaky crust and sweet, strawberry goodness with a touch of sweet n' sour. One of Auntie M's favorite pies and big summertime seller.

Ohio Shaker Lemon Pie

"The Shakers invented this pie back in the early eighteen-hundreds when they began trading goods they grew or manufactured for the few necessities they couldn’t produce.  Lemons, were one of the ‘world’s goods’ they needed. Their lemons came all the way from New Orleans and were so dear that the Shakers believed it a sin to waste any part of them, so they devised a recipe that would use the whole lemon.”

Lemons, lemons and more lemons...nothing but macerated lemons in this pie and all from Auntie M's overflowing lemon tree with just enough sugar to balance out the tartness.

An Old Fashioned  pie favorite loaded with fresh bananas and genuine pastry cream in Auntie M's flaky crust and topped off with fresh Chantilly Cream. A dairy lover's delight and just a hint of the islands for your next party as an unexpected dessert.
